One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Dipped Iron Decoration Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA origin, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, flared collar, and open loop handles, featuring heavily-tooled incising to the collar and shoulder. Decorated at the upper and lower body with a dipped iron-oxide decoration. Rim chips. Two in-the-firing pings to bottom edge. A thin 1 1/2" crack from rim on reverse. A very faint, approximately 2 1/4" Y-shaped line to side of jar.
