Unusual Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Presentation Wine Jug, Inscribed "H W P. / Wine," Stamped "J.S. TAFT & COMPANY / KEENE N.H.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated with the slip-trailed initials, "H W P.," above the inscription, "Wine." Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. Provenance: Descended in the Page family of New Hampshire. Family history indicates this jug was made for Hannah W. Page, ostensibly the woman by that name who was married to Leander Page, a Swanzey, NH farmer. Excellent condition with two tiny spout nicks and a small in-the-firing iron ping to reverse.
