Rare Small-Sized Redware Bowl with Three-Color Slip Decoration, Hagerstown, MD, possibly Adam Family, early 19th century, flared bowl with footed base and flared rim molding, the lead-glazed interior decorated around the shoulder with a scalloped sea-green stripe, accented with manganese spots and flanked by cream-colored-slip stripes. An additional band of cream-colored slip appears at the interior base of the bowl. Strong decoration and exceptional size. The distinctive sea-green slip on this bowl, composed of cream-colored slip lightly augmented with copper-oxide, is consistent with early redware from this region. The scalloped pattern on the bowl can be found on other examples attributed to the Adam family, made during their tenure in Hagerstown, MD and later in New Market, VA. Rim chips.
