Fine Tanware Pitcher, New Geneva or Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1885, ovoid pitcher with footed base and ornately-potted collar featuring concave and rounded moldings below a flared rim, the body decorated in Albany slip with a large sweeping fuchsia vine design. Collar decorated with inverted drapes interspersed with spots. Freehand stripe decoration to rim and base. Handle decorated with pairs of diagonal freehand stripes along with highlights to the terminals. Exceptional form with strong decoration. A tight 4 1/2" hairline to front, extending onto underside and 2 1/4" up reverse side of pitcher. A small chip to outer edge of spout, probably in-the-making. H 7 5/8".
