Exceptional Slip-Decorated Redware Plate, English, 18th or 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior decorated with profuse spot and lattice work motifs in yellow-over-black slip under a clear lead glaze. A striking example, the most heavily-decorated antique piece of slipware that we have ever offered. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which recently surfaced in Virginia. A 1 3/4" reglued piece at rim with associated chips around reglued piece. Otherwise excellent condition. Diam. 7 3/8".
