Scarce Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to H. H. Zigler, Newville, PA, circa 1852-1865, one to one-and-a-half-gallon pitcher with tall collar ending in a heavily-tooled rim, the pitcher's body decorated with a large slip-trailed flowering plant. Decoration includes three large, heavily-striped blossoms interspersed with zig-zagging stems. Excellent, folky decoration. Pitchers by this desirable Cumberland County, PA maker are considered difficult to find. 2" hairline from rim on left side of pitcher's front. Wear to spout. 2 1/2" hairline from rim on reverse. Rim chips. H 11 1/2".
