Extremely Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "PARR & BURLAND / BALTIMORE," David Parr, Sr. and James Burland, Baltimore, MD, circa 1815-1821, ovoid jar with flared collar and open loop handles, decorated on the front and boldly-brushed garland across the shoulder and on the reverse with a large, four-petaled flower with sprigs emanating from it. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. One of Baltimore's rarest maker's marks, and the only stamp known to have been used by the highly-influential potter, David Parr, Sr. One handle restored. Additional restoration to jar.
