Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Incised Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & CO./ LYONS," NY State origin, circa 1840, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted foliate motif with slash-accented interior, modeled after an earlier style from Manhattan. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Crack across underside, forming a Y at base on front and reverse. A few rim chips.
