Rare Glazed Redware Pitcher with Incised and Impressed Decoration, probably PA origin, circa 1840-1880, ovoid pitcher with footed base, squared rim, and ornate spurred handle, the surface decorated with daubs of manganese over an olive ground with orange spotting, all covered in a clear lead glaze. Collar of pitcher incised on one side with foliate motifs. Rim decorated with impressed asterisks. Body decorated with impressed checked diamond motifs. A finely-potted and unusually-decorated example, exhibiting strong color. Excellent condition with a small spout chip, a tiny base nick, and some very minor surface wear. H 10 7/8".
