Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Bennington, VT origin, circa 1840, a two-gallon jar with cobalt flower vine motif, stamped "JULIUS NORTON / BENNINGTON VT"; paired with a three-gallon lidded jar with cobalt double-blossomed floral motif, stamped "NORTON & FENTON, / East Bennington, Vt.". Julius Norton jar with flakes to collar, several small groups of tight spider lines to reverse and side, small chips to interior, and some greasy residue to surface. Norton & Fenton jar with a long Y-shaped line to front, an in-the-firing dent to front, traces of old water glass and paint residue to surface, and staining. Chips to lid.
