Two Two-Gallon Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Ft. Edward, NY origin, circa 1875, both of cylindrical form with applied lug handles and slip-trailed design of crested bird perched on stylized branches. One stamped "NEW YORK / STONEWARE CO / FORT EDWARD. N.Y.", the other stamped "JA. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD. N.Y.". New York Stoneware Company crock with several in-the-firing lines to base on front, not visible on interior, a short line from rim on reverse, shallow rim chips, a small in-the-firing iron ping to reverse, and salt drips to surface. Underwood crock with crude restoration to all of left handle, touch-up to fry in cobalt, a faint 1 1/2" line from rim on front, and two 3 1/4" Y-shaped lines on reverse, not visible on interior.
