Two Pieces of Stoneware with Cobalt Bird Decoration, NY State origin, circa 1875, a two-gallon jar with slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch, stamped "RIEDINGER & CAIRE / POUGHKEEPSIE. NY"; paired with a four-gallon crock with large slip-trailed chicken pecking corn motif, probably Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY. Poughkeepsie jar with heavy chipping to interior and exterior of rim as well as inner rim for lid, along with 2 1/2" and 2" hairlines from rim, light water glass staining, a minor in-the-firing iron ping on reverse, and a salt drip to front and underside. Chicken pecking corn crock with long cracks from rim on front, a few rim chips, and a small chip to one handle.
