Rare Glazed Redware Apothecary Jar with Lid, Inscribed "24", attributed to Nathaniel Seymour, East Hartford, CT, late 18th or early 19th century, cylindrical jar with tapered shoulder and flared rim, decorated with the yellow-slip number, "24", at the shoulder. Surface covered in a clear lead glaze over a dark-olive ground with orange spotting. Includes a 19th century glazed redware lid. Jar with glaze wear to interior and exterior rim area, a 3/4" glaze flake to base, and a few other very minor glaze flakes near base, and some light surface wear. Lid with a small chip to edge, two minor chips to knob, and other minor wear. H (excluding lid) 8 15/16".
