Slip-Decorated Redware Loaf Dish, Philadelphia, PA origin or possibly Pruden Family, Elizabeth, NJ, 19th century, with coggled edge, the interior decorated in yellow slip with crossed, flag-shaped trails flanking three foliate motifs. While redware dishes of this specific style are typically attributed to Philadelphia, the ceramic historian, Edwin Atlee Barber, claims to have seen such pieces being kept as remaining inventory from the Pruden Pottery of Elizabeth, NJ. A 4" crack from rim. Rim chips. Some dark-red areas on interior are original, lightly-glazed spots. L 17".
