Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Pheasant Decoration, "FORT EDWARD / POTTERY CO.," Otto V. Lewis and George A. Satterlee, Fort Edward, NY, circa 1859, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a pheasant with turned head, perched on a tree stump atop a shrubbed ground. Nice feather detail to bird's body and tail. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An in-the-firing chip to top edge of spout and a small spout chip. A 5/8" hole in reverse near base. A small in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder on side of jug. A spot of some blackish in-the-firing residue to reverse. A very faint vertical 4" line on reverse.
