One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "JCM", attributed to Daniel Seagle, Vale, NC, circa 1840, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and flared rim, the surface covered in a mottled olive-brown alkaline glaze. As stated in the research of NC collectors and historians, Tom and Lana Kleeberg, pieces bearing a "JCM" mark were made by Daniel Seagle for John Michal or his father, Johann Conrad Michal, who were members of a prominent Lincoln County, NC family, merchants, and associates of the Seagles. As-made condition with in-the-firing raised spots throughout.
