Rare Figural-Decorated Stoneware Wall Plaque, Midwestern origin, late 19th century, slab-constructed plaque with molded and applied classical woman's head forming open pockets, flanking a relief bust of a man. Surface further decorated with relief tassels, flowers with bees, clamshells, and a star. Hanger hole surrounded by a molded wreath. Produced from a dense buff-colored stoneware clay with overlying Albany slip glaze. Excellent condition with a few very minor edge chips on reverse. H 10 3/4" ; W 9 1/4".
