Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Inkwells with Impressed Designs, Northeastern U.S. origin, early 19th century, a four-holed example of semi-ovoid, the top with brushed cobalt and impressed leaf and asterisk motif; paired with a three-holed example with arched dentile coggling and cobalt highlights to top. Four-holed inkwell with a thin crack on one side, in otherwise excellent condition. Three-holed example with base chips, a spider crack to one side, and dryness to surface. H (of four-holed example) 2" ; Diameter (of four-holed example) 3 1/4".
