Rare Shenandoah Valley Multi-Glazed Redware Jug, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, ovoid jug with tooled spout and base, the surface covered in a streaky cream-colored slip, decorated with splashes of copper and manganese, and covered in a clear lead glaze. Among the rarer utilitarian Strasburg redware forms known, this jug features the best color of any example that we have offered and is potted in a slightly larger size than typically found. Handle restored. Otherwise excellent condition with two kiln scars to underside. No glaze flakes or spout wear, as is often the case. H 6 3/4".
