Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Sailing Ship Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1880, cylindrical jug with tooled spout, decorated on the front with a slip-trailed design of a sailing ship including crow's nest, ratlines, and striped body. Ship decorations from this period in American stoneware production are highly unusual. Some in-the-firing crazing to body and spout. A 2 1/4" inverted Y-shaped line to front.
