Rare Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Spice Jar, Crawford County, GA origin, late 19th or early 20th century, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, the surface covered in an olive-green alkaline glaze. The atypical form and slightly misshapen rim of the jar indicate this piece was most likely made as a pitcher, the top of which was damaged prior to firing, leading the collar to be removed and the vessel being repurposed by the potter as a jar, glazed, and fired. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 7".
