Rare Miniature Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, Inscribed "Samuel Baker / Dec. 17th 1839", cylindrical jar with incised wavy line decoration and original lid with heavily-incised banding. Underside of jar and lid incised in script, "Samuel / Baker / Dec. 17th / 1839". It is unclear where Baker worked, but he is probably a relative of the Bakers who produced earthenware in Adams County. Surface of jar and lid covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Some restoration to rim of jar. Otherwise excellent condition with some in-the-making base wear, and a tiny amount of wear to body. H 3 3/8".
