Rare Small-Sized Glazed Redware Jar with Lid, Inscribed "S.B. / Sep. 9th / 1840", probably Samuel Baker, PA origin, 1840, ovoid jar with footed base, flared rim, and original lid, the jar and lid with incised line decoration and lead-glazed surface. Underside of jar incised "S.B. / Sep. 9th / 1840". It is unclear where Baker worked, but he is probably a relative of the Bakers who produced earthenware in Adams County. Jar in very nice condition with wear to rim, minor wear to inner rim for lid, and some light surface wear to incising. Lid in excellent condition with minor edge wear. H (including lid) 4 3/4".
