Exceptional Large-Sized Redware Bowl with Two-Color Slip Decoration, Pennsylvania origin, circa 1825, tapered bowl with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, with depressed terminals, the interior lavishly-decorated in manganese and cream-colored slip with tulips and teardrop-shaped trails, embellished on the interior with wavy lines and spots, and separated by stylized daisy blossoms. Interior rim of bowl decorated with manganese and cream-colored slip banding. Interior center of bowl decorated with heavy manganese and cream-colored slip banding, overlain with a wavy band of copper slip and stylized daisy blossoms. Interior and exterior of bowl covered in a clear lead glaze. Outstanding large size and wonderful decoration, retaining a brilliant luster to the surface. A 1 1/8" chip to top of rim. Other light wear to rim and small chips to bottom edge of rim on exterior. Some small spots of wear to slip. A shallow flake and light wear to one handle. Minor wear to opposite handle.
