Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, possibly Beaver, PA, circa 1880, cylindrical churn with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a series of graduated swags above foliate motifs flanking what appears to be the letter "N", above a lightly-brushed freehand "4", all applied over slip-coated clay. A few rim chips. A glazed-over 1" ping to reverse end of one handle. Wear to inner rim for lid. A very faint 2 1/4" Y-shaped surface line under one handle, not visible on interior.
