Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, circa 1840, ovoid pitcher with narrow base and pinched pouring spout, the front decorated with a stylized slip-trailed floral design including swag-like trails. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. A 2 1/4" flaked area to underside. A chip where spout meets rim of pitcher. A tiny rim nick on reverse. An in-the-firing contact mark to reverse. Two small in-the-firing contact marks to right of decoration. A faint 3" surface line to far right side of pitcher's front. A minor chip or in-the-firing ping to lower handle terminal.
