Two Northeastern U.S. Stoneware Jars, first quarter 19th century, both of one-gallon capacity and similar, ovoid form with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, one stamped "GOODWIN / & / WEBSTER", Hartford, CT origin, the other stamped "SWAN & STATES / STONINGTON.", CT origin. Both with cobalt highlights to maker's marks and handle terminals. Goodwin & Webster jar with minor rim chipping, a 1 3/4" hairline from rim on front, a few base chips, and some adhesive residue to surface. Swan & States jar with chipping to base, some of which is glazed over, a chip and minor nick to interior of rim, and a minor nick to exterior of rim.
