Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Decoration, attributed to Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, late 18th century, ovoid jar with footed base, flared rim, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted flower. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Base chips. A thin 3 1/2" crack from rim. Jar is somewhat out-of-round. A 4" in-the-firing separation line descending from rim on interior, not visible on exterior. Some typical small firing flaws to surface.
