Fine Three-Gallon Iron-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Impressed Hearts Motif, Stamped "CHARLESTOWN," Frederick Carpenter, Charlestown, MA, circa 1812-1827, finely-potted, ovoid jar with footed base, heavily-tooled shoulder, flared collar, and open loop handles. Decorated on the shoulder with three impressed hearts below "CHARLESTOWN" maker's mark. Top portion of jar and base with dipped iron-oxide slip decoration. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a recently-surfaced GA collection. Very nice condition. Some shallow chipping to base. A shallow 5/8" chip to top of rim. A minor rim chip with faint 1 1/4" line along top of rim. A minor chip to interior of rim. Some typical, small in-the-firing flaws to surface.
