Rare One-Gallon Connecticut Stoneware Pitcher with Incised and Freehand Decoration, Stamped "J. DUNTZE / NEW-HAVEN," CT origin, circa 1825, ovoid pitcher with tooling to collar and midsection, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted flower head on the front. Cobalt decorated with brushed cobalt drape motif. A difficult-to-find Connecticut maker and form. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Chipping to spout and rim. A faint 3/4" hairline from rim on reverse. Mottling to surface. A semi-circular in-the-firing contact mark near base. Height 11 1/4".
