Extremely Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Keg with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Inscribed "Joseph Eneix / 1870," Stenciled "From / Philip Eiler / East / Birmingham / POTTERY / PA", 1870, semi-ovoid keg with tooled banding, the reverse and underside with pouring hole, the front featuring the brushed cobalt inscription, "Joseph Eneix 1870" above three flowers and two wavy stripes. Bottom half of keg with stenciled Philip Eiler maker's mark within a stenciled border, flanked by swags. Exceptional form and rare maker's mark, including the individual potter's signature at shoulder. Restoration to rim. Crazing to surface. H 11 1/2".
