One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Freehand Cobalt Decoration, attributed to Enoch Fowler, Beaver, PA, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with flared rim and tooling to midsection and shoulder, decorated with a brushed vine motif between a series of freehand stripes, all applied over slip-coated clay. Some spots of fry to cobalt. A tight, 4 1/4" Y-shaped line to side of jar. A small in-the-firing base chip to reverse. Minor wear to inner rim for lid.
