Rare One-Gallon Stoneware Tankard Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Ohio origin, circa 1875, cylindrical pitcher with rounded shoulder and flared collar, the surface covered in a heavy whitish slip and decorated on one side with a brushed vine bearing three round pieces of fruit or flower blossoms. Cobalt dash decoration to base of collar. Cobalt stripe to handle and brushed highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional form. Provenance: Harry Meyer Collection. A network of hairlines extending several inches up base around body of pitcher. H 10 3/4".
