Exceptional Copper-Glazed Redware Flowerpot, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'", PA origin, circa 1850-1880, tapered flowerpot with attached saucer, both with rounded rims, the surface covered in a dark manganese slip overlain with a vibrant, opaque lead-and-copper glaze. Impressed "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'" at the shoulder. One of John Bell's most striking and desirable glaze treatments. Very nice condition. Typical residue from use on interior rim area, base, and interior of saucer. Some minor flecks of glaze loss to saucer. Some light glaze loss to rim. A tiny fleck of glaze loss near base of pot. H 5 1/4" ; Diameter (across top) 5 3/4".
