Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Stamped "A.J. BUTTLER / NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.", circa 1860, a two-gallon ovoid pitcher with brushed cobalt swags flanking the maker's mark and a freehand cobalt "2" above, paired with a two-gallon, squat-shaped jug, decorated with three cobalt tulip blossoms and a freehand "2". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Pitcher with top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse, extending onto underside. Jug with significant crazing to spout and shoulder area.
