Very Rare Tanware Pitcher with Profuse Albany Slip Decoration, Inscribed "THINK OF ME", New Geneva or Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1885, skillfully-potted pitcher with ovoid body, featuring a tall collar with raised molding, the body profusely-decorated in Albany slip with a sweeping fuchsia vine design between two freehand stripes. Collar decorated across molding with the highly-unusual brushed inscription, "THINK OF ME", between two freehand stripes, flanked by flourishes on each side. Top of collar with brushed drape-and-spot motif. Handle with diagonal freehand stripes and a highlight at lower terminal. Among the surviving body of Western PA tanware pieces, relatively few inscribed examples are known. This example sports an outstanding form, which showcases its slogan well.
