Rare and Fine Quart-Sized Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Thomas Haig, Jr., Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled accents to collar and body, the front decorated with two vertically-brushed tulips. Collar decorated with four graduated groups of cobalt swags. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Exceptional size. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, consigned from Washington state. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with some minor base chipping on reverse, probably in the firing. H 7".
