Fine Glazed Redware Stew Pot with Lid, New England origin, early 19th century, ovoid pot with footed base, tooled shoulder, ribbed strap handle, and pouring spout, the surface decorated with spattered manganese slip and covered in a clear lead glaze. Includes original lid with tooled edge, decorated with spattered manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. Vibrant color. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a long-term Wilmington, DE collection. Stew pot with network of cracks to bottom half of vessel, emanating from a tight Y-shaped line on underside. A chip to interior of spout, a chip where spout meets rim, and a rim chip on reverse. Additional expected minor wear to rim and handle. A few chips to lid. H (including lid) 9".
