One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to John P. Schermerhorn, Richmond, VA, circa 1830, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and thick lug handles, decorated on one side with two round blossoms emanating from vine, and on the opposite side with a single blossom emanating from a leafy stem. Brushed cobalt highlights along top edges of handles. A 2 3/8" loss to rim. Additional rim chips. One handle with wear and two shallow chips. Shallow chipping to base. Some surface wear around midsection.
