One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to J. Keister & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1865, semi-ovoid pitcher with tall, narrow collar, decorated on the front with sweeping flowers flanking a series of graduated vertical stripes. Graduated swag decoration flanking the spout. Distinctive Jeremiah Keister one-gallon capacity mark impressed on front. Desirable form and maker. Provenance: From an over forty-year private collection. A few small, shallow base chips. A small chip to spout. A 1" flake to interior of rim.
