Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Henry H. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1855, approximately three-quart, highly-ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled collar, decorated with a double-stemmed clover plant design on the front, which extends around the sides of the pitcher. Brushed swag decoration below spout. Collar decorated with two leaves on the left and right sides. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a forty-year Maryland collection. Tight spider cracks throughout pitcher and underside. A 1 7/8" flake off interior of rim, visible as a 1" chip on exterior of rim. This damage includes a 4" crack descending from it. An additional 3 1/8 section of in-the-firing chipping to rim.
