Early Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Flask, Northeastern U.S. origin, 18th or early 19th century, with wide, flattened form and tapered mouth, decorated on the front and reverse with a circular trail of cobalt slip. Base chips, most or all of which appear to be in-the-firing. Some salt residue to bottom edge. An in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder on one side, which includes two smooth adhered pieces of clay and a small surface chip. H 7".
