Four Redware Plates, attributed to the Singer Pottery, Haycock Township, Bucks County, PA, fourth quarter 19th century, all with coggled edges, three of which have slip decoration. Additionally, three plates are unfinished products, lacking a lead glaze on their interiors. Two of these plates have a bright-orange residue on the interior, possibly an unfired lead glaze. The existence of these three plates suggests the Singers may have been bisque firing their plates prior to adding a lead glaze. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, discovered by a Singer family descendant in the 1950s in one of several boxes stored away in the eaves of the Singer Pottery warehouse. Plate with heavy orange residue on interior in excellent condition with minor edge wear. Green-slip-decorated plate with a flake to interior. Yellow-slip-decorated plates with edge chips. Diameter (of largest) 9 3/4".
