Rare Glazed Redware Slip Cup, attributed to the Singer Pottery, Haycock Township, Bucks County, PA, fourth quarter 19th century, wheel-thrown, cylindrical form with carved opening in top and applied rectangular molding with canted corners, fashioned with three quill holes. Surface covered in a brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Several redware plates offered in this auction featuring tripartite line designs may have been decorated with this tool. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, discovered by a Singer family descendant in the 1950s in one of several boxes stored away in the eaves of the Singer Pottery warehouse. Large flake to opening on top. Wear to rim. Some glaze flakes to surface. H 2" ; Diameter 3 5/8".
