One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with Pittsburgh, PA Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1885, semi-ovoid jug with tooled spout, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "H. BROWARSKY / WHOLESALE / DEALER IN PURE / RYE HOME CIRCLE / WHISKIES & BRANDIES, / 361 5th AVENUE. / PITTSBURGH. PA.". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a small collection of Pittsburgh advertising stoneware consigned to this auction. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. A chip to side of spout. A thin 3 1/2" crack on underside, continuing 5 1/2" up reverse.
