Fine Four-Gallon Double-Handled Stoneware Jug with Alkaline Glaze, Stamped "CJB", Columbus Jackson Becham, Crawford County, GA, late 19th or early 20th century, beehive-form jug with tooled spout and two ribbed open handles applied at the shoulder. Surface covered in an appealing olive-green alkaline glaze with darker streaks cascading from the shoulder area. One handle impressed "CJB" for Crawford County, GA potter, Columbus Jackson Becham. Excellent form and glaze in an exceptional size. This example is the largest Becham family jug we have ever offered. Provenance: A recently-surfaced example, found in Georgia. Very nice condition with two shallow stone pings to shoulder, a few in-the-firing unglazed spots to surface, and some minor surface wear. H 15 3/4".
