Early Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Edgefield District, SC origin, probably Reverend John Landrum, Horse Creek Valley, circa 1820-1840, highly-ovoid jug with finely-tooled spout, the surface covered in a heavy alkaline glaze with appealing glaze runs and mottled dark-to-light-olive coloration. Loss to spout and two minor nicks to molding at center of spout. Traces of white spray to shoulder, unrelated to any sort of restoration. Two base chips. Two in-the-firing pings to surface. Some light surface wear.
