Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Impressed Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAWS", Thomas Commeraw, Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, the shoulder decorated with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted drape-and-tassel motif resembling clam shells. Cobalt-highlighted maker's mark, "COMMERAWS", below decoration. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Heavy chipping to base. Otherwise excellent condition.
