Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Impressed and Coggled Floral Decoration, attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr., Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, ovoid jar with footed base, tooled shoulder, and open loop handles, decorated on the front and reverse with an impressed and cobalt-highlighted flower blossom motif, surrounded by a coggled petal border. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Heavy chipping to base. Small rim chips. A fairly-innocuous in-the-firing contact mark to one side.
