Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with footed base and heavily-tooled collar, decorated with a two-stemmed flowering plant design extending up the front. Collar with brushed graduated swag decoration. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Areas of restoration to shoulder on sides and reverse of pitcher. Area of restoration to reverse side of collar, beside a sealed crack in collar. Restored crack to collar on side of pitcher. While a large area of paint applied to the handle indicates some sort of restoration, the handle is not reconstructed. A 3 1/2" surface line extending from base on front, not visible on interior. A tiny in-the-firing separation line at base.
